Online Grants for K-12 Teachers

Hey AList moms! Kids In Need Foundation and Elmer’s have partnered to create a grant program for teachers, designed to promote creativity in the classroom. The grants are sponsored by Elmer’s, and all certified teachers in grades K-12 can apply online through April 30!

The purpose of the grants is to provide teachers with the means to replicate projects found in the Elmer’s Teacher Tool Kit catalog in their own classrooms. (Note: the catalog is fun to explore…you can find a project based on subject type, including language, math, science, and many more.)

Here is how it works:

Teachers log on to the Kids In Need Foundation website, and view the catalog of more than 500 amazing and creative projects. Next, you apply online for the grant that will allow you to replicate this project in your own classroom. Grant amounts are from $100 to $500. You may apply for up to three different projects from the Elmer’s Teacher Tool Kit catalog, but you must complete a separate application for each project. Again, applications are due by April 30.

Good luck! And if you or someone you know is a lucky winner, we would love to see photos from one of these fun classroom projects!

Kids In Need Foundation, Back-to-School

Hello! Today is the last day of August! Everyone is getting ready for Back-to-School time, which makes me think about the kids who do not have the supplies they need when they show up to their first day of school. The Kids In Need Foundation is a not-for-profit with a mission to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need. The Foundation does this through 24 resource centers across the country, where teachers can “shop” for free supplies. The Foundation also supports a teacher grant program; all K-12 educators nationwide are eligible. Finally, the Foundation supports a school box program to help get supplies to students in rural areas. The Kids In Need Foundation 2010 gala and business luncheon is on September 29 at The Depot in Minneapolis. The gala reception is sponsored by Target. For more details on the gala and luncheon, visit the KINF site. You can buy your tickets online here. To learn more about the Foundation, or to make a donation, you can “fan” the Kids In Need Foundation Facebook site. Cheers to a great school year!
