Babymoon: St. Regis Monarch Beach

Our night at the St. Regis Monarch Beach was relaxing—yet it felt like a real vacation. After a good night sleep, we were greeted by the sun. Our butler dropped off coffee and tea and then we were on our way to the pool. Even in November, the water was warm enough to jump in and enjoy. Afterward, we wrapped up the morning by taking a long walk through the hotel grounds and down to Salt Creek beach. I especially love this beach because I have been coming to it since I was a little girl visiting my relatives in Orange County.

As a babymoon destination, the St. Regis is a fantastic choice based on the grounds alone! The service is outstanding, and the rooms are amazing to just relax in! Also, this part of Orange County has so many things to do. There’s the beach, amazing spas, golf and tennis and great dining! Also, the area is very easy to fly into. We normally fly direct into John Wayne Airport and zip right down to Laguna Niguel and Dana Point. This is much easier than flying into LAX.

I was back in Orange County with Mr. AList last month to continue our reviews of the top Southern California Babymoon destinations! We stayed Thanksgiving night at the gorgeous St. Regis Monarch Beach. The St. Regis is one of California’s only Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond awarded resorts. It has a chic Tuscan style that’s very suited to Southern California. Since it was Thanksgiving, we were able to see the hotel decorated for the holidays.  The first thing we saw when we entered the property were large trees decorated with lights. We also saw a beautiful sand sculpture in the lobby; it was truly special! After check in, we headed out to the balcony for cocoa, where we watched the sun set over the Pacific, with Catalina Island in the distance. This is a magnificent experience that everyone should do once in their lifetime. This is one of my top five things to do in Southern California. We were booked into an Executive Suite, and we were truly delighted with our beautiful room. We were greeted with soothing music on the stereo. The first thing I noticed was the VIEW! The balcony was extraordinary–with views of the resort, the golf course, the pool and the ocean. The bathroom was the size of a bedroom! The first thing I did was hop in the tub for bubble bath. {The toiletries here were the best I have ever received at a resort.} We ordered room service and dined while enjoying the early evening glow.  We had sweet dreams in the luxury bed. {There is nothing like a luxury hotel’s sheets–right?!} Find out all about our fun in the sun the day after Thanksgiving in tomorrow’s post!

Lindt Lindor Truffles: Sweet Holiday Gifts

I’ve been traveling a lot recently, and away from Mr. Alist. Whenever I’m away for long, he always sends me a box filled with treats, cards and the little comforts of home.  One of the things he includes makes me a bit giddy. Lindt Lindor Truffles always find their way into the box, and I just get a little happier when I see that red bag of truffles. These little bite sized snacks are delicious, and just one or two can satisfy my cravings!  These also make great gifts for the special people in our lives. Moms, Dads, friends, sisters, aunts, daughters, and your child’s teacher will all love them! They’re a premium item, but they can be found in most grocery stores. Nothing tastes quite like the Lindor Truffle. Created only by Lindt’s Master Chocolatiers, it’s exquisite chocolate filled with a smooth chocolate center. When the irresistible center starts to melt…so will you. Smooth. Flowing. Luscious. Chocolate like no other.

AListLoves: Worx Toys Speedster

Children are extremely curious little creatures. We have all heard a little boy or girl ask how something works. Little boys especially love planes, trains and automobiles! We received this Worx Toys Speedster a few days ago, and it is a big hit. It was designed by fathers who wanted a fun toy that was also educational. The Speedster definitely fits the description.  The car comes with a book that explains all the systems of the car, everything from brakes to the engine to the suspension!  It’s a really fun toy: it lights up, it makes sounds, and it’s programmable. The box says it is suitable to children 6 and over, but we think children younger will like it, as well. {And Mr. Alist was fascinated by it, and he’s a lot older than 6!}

AListBaby Loves: NurturMe

Celebrity moms including Selma Blair, Tiffani Thiessen and Laila Ali are raving over NurturMe. It is a line of baby food that is certified-organic, and made from quick-dried fruits and vegetables. By quick-drying its ingredients, NurturMe preserves the vital nutrients and phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables. The company has announced the introduction of two yummy new flavors: “Sweet Bananas” and “Crunchy Carrots.” They are all-natural, gluten-free and have no added salts, sugars, colors or preservatives. Sounds pretty good, right?  In addition, the fruits and vegetables used in NurturMe come from certified organic farms in the United States. NurturMe is convenient, too—you can just mix one of the palm-sized packets of NurturMe with breast milk, whole milk, formula or water. You can check out some recipe combinations on this video.

Holiday Ornaments for a Great Cause

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by mary on 09-11-2011

Christmas ornaments have always been special to me, because growing up my grandmother alwsys purchased me a Hallmark ornament that corresponded with my hobby at the time. I got a grey kitten when I got my first pet, and a pair of ice skates when I started taking lessons. They are all such precious memories for me. I also have a few ornaments with my name on them. I went by “Mary Pat” back then, and it warms my heart when I see them on our tree. I just got an e-mail that this personalized ornament website is donating 10% of each purchase to the James Camden Sikes fund, in memory of a very special baby. James is the son of Kara—and Kara and I are both good friends with Jean E. While I have never met Kara, my heart hurts for her loss. James passed away from a brain tumor at eight months old. Kara, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so sad for you, and I wish it did not happen. I love that you have a fund that will help to keep his memory alive, and do good things for other babies. Life is NOT fair, is it?

I encourage our readers to buy a sweet ornament for this great cause! Here are the details:

Enter the code “JAMES” at checkout

10% of every purchase will go to the James Camden Sikes fund
