Thanks to Kara’s awesome party blog for this fun American Girl themed birthday bash! The guests each left this birthday party with a custom outfit for their doll…and a cake stand for their doll, too! (Talk about great party favors!) I took my niece to the American Girl store in Los Angeles when she was six, and she loved it. We had high tea in the pink and black cafe with her brand new doll, and we have photos of her outside the store, next to her red bags of American Girl loot. Lucky girl! I think the memory is just as much fun for me as it was for her.

We LOVE celebration cakes around here, so OF COURSE we are anxiously awaiting Will and Kate’s wedding fruitcake, which I am certain will be amazing. Below are photos of Princess Diana and Princess Grace’s wedding cakes. This is our TREND SPOTTING prediction: the “separators” between layers will be a big trend following William and Kate’s royal wedding. Five years ago I would have been horrified of the thought of pedestals between the layers, but now I kind of like them. They seem regal. And the super-high wedding cakes will be back, too. (Hey, we were huge fans of the super-tall cake for our October 2009 wedding.) Love a big cake! Will tall baby shower cakes be back, too? We say, why not?

Hello! We are back from a lovely wedding weekend in Arizona. I am loving these gorgeous white floral arrangements! The floating orchids add a touch of glamour to this sophisticated white centerpiece. This would also be lovely for a baby shower or christening centerpiece! Happy Monday, everyone!

Afternoon tea at the Palace Hotel was a perfect setting for Sherene’s baby shower. As a stylist in San Francisco, Sherene is the creator of Style by Sherene. As I mentioned yesterday, Sherene was one of my college roommates. She is like family to me, and I would not have missed her special day for the world. Let’s talk about the details! Ladies sipped several different types of tea, and enjoyed miniature sandwiches, scones and a delightful display of desserts. Personally, I loved the chocolate covered strawberries. The ganache tarts were also a big hit. Each table was decorated with a sweet diaper cake, and accented with two favors. The little rocking horse will playfully host a photo of the baby boy once he arrives. The “Baby is Brewing” tea favor was perfectly on theme. We played “baby trivia”, and enjoyed watching the beautiful mom-to-be open her gifts. Of course, I purchased several giraffe items for the little guy. Sherene is my AEPhi pledge sister, after all! Sherene’s mom and sister did a great job with this event. A lovely afternoon for our glamorous mom-to-be.

This weekend, I was in San Francisco for my college roommate’s baby shower. We had a beautiful breakfast at the Presidio Social Club, and her baby shower was an afternoon tea at the Palace Hotel. We loved the pianist playing, the big chandeliers, and the old world glamour. Below are a few sneak peak photos from the luxe location. We will chat about the shower details tomorrow.
