Alist Baby Loves: Kia Sorento EX

What does every proper girls weekend need? The proper ride! The very kind people at Kia were nice enough to lend us a fully loaded Kia Sorento SX for the weekend. This luxurious crossover had everything, leather interior, GPS navigation and seating for 7! Black with grey leather interior, it was gorgeous! I normally drive a sedan, and I had never really appreciated a high seating position. This gave me a great view of the road, and an added sense of confidence and security. Another thing that really surprised me was how flexible the seating was in the Sorrento. I picked up my 6’3” tall nephew and his equally tall friends from high school and they all fit in very comfortably, even in the back row! Later on, when I needed a bit more cargo space for all the shopping that took place, I could just flip this seat back and get plenty of storage room.  Driving around, I noticed we were getting up to 32 MPG on the freeway. Better than my four door!

My friend and I also did a lot of exploring in Orange County. We drove up and down the Pacific Coast Highway checking out thebeaches and stopping at the scenic overlooks. There’s really a lot to do between Newport Beach and San Clemente. There’s a great art scene in Laguna Beach, a fantastic marina in Dana Point, San Clemente has a surfer town vibe. Newport Beach is just glam with great shopping and dining. Every turn we took in the Sorento gave us another dazzling view of the coast. This really is America’s Riviera.

A Proflowers.com Gift Basket for Mom

There are two kinds of mothers out there. Those that love flowers and those that don’t. Personally, I don’t understand it when a woman doesn’t like flowers but Mr. Alist assures me that plenty of moms would much rather have delicious, healthy and nutritious food basket for Mother’s Day. If one of those people just happens to be your mom, check out this delicious gift basket pictured above. It has almonds, peanuts, apples, crackers, cheeses, pears and petit fours! Yum! Okay, I think I maybe one of those ladies who prefers a food basket after all. Check out this site if you are looking for mother’s day gifts other than flowers!

Dallas Child Photography

Acquaintances in Dallas often ask me if I recommend a photographer to capture their child’s baby photos. I see some great photos every week. I will say this: photography is deeply personal. You want to find a photographer who showcases work on their blog and website that really resonates with you. I personally adore the child photography work of Maria with Squaresville Studios. You may remember these baby photos she took of Texas months ago. Last week, my friend Sasha shared these photos below, from a recent photo shoot with Squaresville Studios. Love the bright colors! Sasha is a creative spirit with lots of energy. I believe these ultra modern shots capture her little boy’s fun spirit. These shots just portray ENERGY! Thanks so much for sharing, Sasha and Maria!

Wedding Photos: Danneel Harris and Jensen Ackles

One Tree Hill stars Danneel Harris and Jensen Ackles tied the knot on Saturday in Dallas, TX. Of course, the make-up artist that did my wedding, Mayra from My Fabulous Faces, did the bride’s gorgeous make-up. Below are photos taken of the bride and her bridal party at the Crescent Hotel in Dallas. The bride looks glamorous in Monique Lhuillier, with floral from Todd Events. Thank you for the photos, Mayra! (You can click on the photos to make them larger!)

There are several designs of the book, made for standard digital prints, Fuji instant photos or even albums for Polaroid photos. The books are sturdy and stylish—designed to last. Champs-Élysées in Paris

We had the pleasure of walking along the Champs-Élysées last weekend. We even climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe! What a view. The entire time I was in Europe, I noticed how many formal baby carriages strolled the streets, like this Silver Cross Pram. Certainly cities like Rome, Venice and Paris are very walkable, and many stylish moms consider their pram a fashion accessory. The babies looked quite pleased, too!

Ciao and Bonjour!

We are home! What a perfectly wonderful adventure we had! There is so much to tell you about. I did much of the planning for our first European adventure. But John selected this location for our final morning in Paris, and it was one of the prettiest places we visited during our trip. The Luxembourg Gardens. It does not get any more Parisian than this. Situated in the heart of the sixth arrondissement near the Latin Quarter, the park surrounds the Luxembourg Palace, which is now the seat of the French Senate. This location is one of the most kid-friendly areas of the city. Little ones can rent little sailboats to float in the main fountain on Wednesdays and on weekends. The park is also surrounded by the most stylish green chairs, ideal for relaxing and soaking it all in. I read that people love these chairs so much that you can actually purchase them somewhere in the city. There is also a gated playground and a carrousel on the grounds. In the days to come, I cannot wait to tell you all more about Italy and France!
