Kimora Lee Simmons, Ming and Aoki

Few people know about my admiration for Kimora Lee Simmons. She is the star of the reality show, “Life In The Fab Lane.” I started watching her show during its first season. I was toiling away at the agency during the day, and I would watch her show for one hour each week while sitting on my miserable couch in my miserable home in the middle of nowhere. (It literally took me an hour to drive to work each day.) I used to think, think, “Wow. Kimora is making it happen for herself.” Of course, she had millions of dollars at her disposal from her now ex-husband Russell Simmons. And she “inherited” the Baby Phat line from the work they did together. But she took one product line and exploded it into an empire. Kimora is a go-getter. She knows the world is her oyster, and she is the pearl. Now, she designs jewelry, she has a children’s line, she has a couture clothing line, a reality show, several fragrances, and she is the spokesmodel for all of her brands. Not to mention, she is a newlywed and new mom, with three children under the age of 11. Kimora just finished renovating her dream home in Beverly Hills, which takes my breath away. (And I thought her New Jersey home was stunning!) Kimora pushes herself to be the best she can be. And I admire that. She reminds women that we should always follow our dreams. The title of her show is no lie….she does live Life in the Fab Lane. Check out these Sweet Dreams beds! She had two custom made for her daughters, Ming, 10, and Aoki, 7.

Nursery Decor and Curtains

Fabric can really jazz up a room….or create a calming effect on a room. I am beginning to love curtains. They are a great alternative to a door in a nursery closet. And when they are attached a ceiling, they can make a great backdrop on a wide wall. (No window required!) Of course, the sophisticated drama of fabric around a canopy is a personal favorite of mine. I have lunch with some girlfriends this afternoon, and lots of work to do this evening! Cheers to a happy summer weekend, friends! Loving the HiLo High Chair

We are in love with the HiLo high chair, sent to us by AGE Design. This colorful, dual-height kids chair combines contemporary design with simplicity and functionality. The chair keeps toddlers well seated from 6 months to 6 years. On first impression, the HiLo kids chair looks basic with its one-piece molded plastic seat held together by wild cherry wood folding legs. It is easily adjusted by a two-button pullout aluminum mechanism. With one easy maneuver, the seatbelt-clad chair conveniently swivels from high chair to under-table chair. The HiLo chair’s subtle, less-is-more design features go further than most modern high chairs. Each added design feature is strategic, clever and understated. We love ours, and we know it will be convenient for many years to come. We also found the chair at the online retailer PokkaDots for $299. We are looking forward to seeing more by AGE Design in the future!

I love to throw parties, but to get the fab displays you see in magazines, you generally need a clean slate. That means no unsightly table legs! We were thrilled to get this tablecloth from Tablevogue, because it envelopes a standard 6′  with a clean palate! The $49 price point is easy to handle, too! One lucky reader can win a 34″ folding table cover! Just e-mail us at alistbabyblog (at) yahoo (dot) com by Noon on March 30 with an explanation of how you would use your Tablevogue tablecloth. Good luck!

Bright Starts InGenuity Playard

Hooray! Finally, we tested a playard with the latest functionality, that is also easy to assemble and looks fantastic. The Bright Starts InGenuity Playard is like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens! The bed itself adjusts to different sizes. Our ten month old did not need the bassinet, but it would work perfectly for a little one. The bassinet even has two sleep positions, flat or inclined. And the changing table portion has a great side tray that keeps diapers and wipes where you need them! It also pivots to the side when not in use. My favorite feature is called “One Less Step”, and it allows you to quickly fold the playard without moving the bassinet. The travel bag looks sleek, and it is easy to carry. Grandma’s house, here we come! We are so thankful for this one. Check out the online demo here! And here is a note from Bright Starts: Baby on the Way? Before Baby arrives, win a getaway to pamper yourself and enjoy some downtime. We’re giving away a luxurious 7-night babymoon vacation to three lucky couples. Relax and reconnect at an incredible U.S. Virgin Islands destination - St. Thomas, St. Croix, or St. John. Enter to win at www.brightstarts.com/babymoon

We love Project Nursery’s real nursery features! This room’s theme is “Blue Skies and Tangerine Dreams”. We think it works for a boy or a girl. The curtain ties are grosgrain ribbons. An easy and affordable style option!12

White and Ivory Nursery Decor

Filed Under (Furniture) by mary on 08-01-2010

We discovered fun nursery ideas at HGTV, from moms who want to share their design creations with us all! Last night, we found this dreamy room. We think the wood accents add a lot of warmth to the theme. The key to this look is to keep all clutter at bay, which is nearly impossible in a baby room! But it sure looks great in the photos! (And you can always make it pristine when company visits…)

Sleigh Beds Ring

Filed Under (Furniture) by mary on 07-01-2010

Sleigh cribs have never been my true crib love. But then I saw this sleigh crib ($1452, Posh Tots) that converts into a toddler bed. Total glamour, right?! The thing I love about the toddler bed is that the crib bedding still works. Genius. And economical. Ooh…but check out the molding on these nursery walls. I recently decided custom carpentry is a must. Along with a fabric draped ceiling. {Must get a piggy bank and start saving.} 19712_PD219712_PD4
