Sentimental Touches in Baby Girl’s Nursery

We love that baby girl’s nursery has some personal touches from her grandparents. We have baby photos from each of her grandparents that are being framed now, and they will add some history to her room.

I also framed this sweet print that was in my Grandmother’s room as a child. When I was a little girl, Grandma would point out all of the things that were happening in the picture. “Look at the little kitty drinking milk.” “What do you think those two little girls are talking about?” I will likely have the same conversations with my little one. I also added these cherished Beatrix Potter music boxes to the shelves of her room. I received these as gifts from my Grandparents for special occasions throughout childhood.

AListBaby Girl’s Nursery!

Hello readers! Today is a big day! We want to share with you a few photos from baby girl’s nursery. We are thrilled with how everything came together. Our goal was a glamorous and timeless look. After much debate, we selected White Dogwood paint by Sherwin Williams. It is a soft pink. We did not want something too cotton-candy, yet I still wanted the wall color to be girly. After all….I waited my whole life for a baby girl! The trim and ceiling is Extra White, also by Sherwin Williams. We selected a flat finish for a more sophisticated look.

The chair and matching ottoman is Nava from the Storytime Series by Best. The chair is so comfortable! And we love the size. We looked long and hard for the right chair…and this one looks elegant, and does not overwhelm the room. The gorgeous crystal chandelier is from Lighting New York. We are thrilled with our choice of the Maria Theresa 5 light semi-flush mount. It took us hours to select the perfect chandelier, and this one sparkles like crazy, and is just perfect for the room.  We are also in love with her dresser and crib!

When I found out I was expecting, we knew we wanted Bratt Decor furniture for sure. I love the style…and the quality is among the very best on the market today. It was a dream come true the day the Chelsea Antique Silver Dresser and Venetian Pewter Crib arrived. We also purchased the changing table tray for the dresser, so we will just remove that when she is done with diapers, and the dresser will be hers forever!

The dresser is one of the nicest pieces of furniture we own. It actually arrived in one piece–no assembly required! It is so gorgeous in person. Of course, it was a thrill to have Mr. AList assemble the stunning Venetian Pewter Crib. I have always wanted an iron crib! The pewter look is very unique, as many people have the white iron. The crib can be set up as a canopy, four poster, or standard look. We chose the canopy look, and we may eventually add some sheer white fabric to drape over the top of the crib. Over the next week, we will share some of the sweet details in her room! I must say, decorating our baby girl’s nursery has been one of the best parts of pregnancy.

Crystal Chandelier for Baby’s Nursery!

Hello! We are putting the finishing touches on baby girl’s nursery, and we cannot wait to share it with you. But first, we want to give you a sneak peak of her glamorous crystal chandelier from Lighting New York. We could not be happier with this Maria Theresa 5 Light Semi Flush Mount. It looks elegant, and adds sparkle to the whole room. Our ceilings are 8′ tall, so we did not want anything that would hang too low. The semi flush mount was the perfect choice. The crystals were individually wrapped, and superior quality. Ordering was a breeze with Lighting New York. Mr. AList did a great job hanging it! It set the tone for her very glamorous room!

Kourtney Kardashian Designs an All-White Nursery

Kourtney Kardashian says she designed an all-white nursery nursery for her brand new baby girl, Penelope Scotland. We cannot wait to see it! And we are certain her Calabasas, CA home is filled with natural light. I find that is a real differentiator when deciding whether or not you should do an all-white nursery. You really need light flowing in to brighten it up. The photo below is a perfect example.

I considered the all-white nursery for our baby girl, but in the end decided that if you do not have the streaming light, the all-white look can be more bleh than glam. But we LOVE the concept if you have the right space! And of course, we will be doing all-white bedding and window coverings for our glamorous baby girl! We will post photos of Penelope’s nursery as soon as we get our little fingers on them!

Baby Girl’s Nursery Paint Color

Whew! We finally selected the perfect paint color for baby girl’s room! After testing out six shades on the wall…we finally selected White Dogwood by Sherwin Williams, with Sherwin Williams Extra White trim. Here is a photo of White Dogwood in a completed bedroom:

The others we tried were Benjamin Moore’s Wild Aster, Powder Blush, and Pale Pink Satin. We also tried Farrow and Ball’s Middleton Pink and Sherwin Williams Rose of Sharon. Ultimately, we selected a pink that was soft and sophisticated, but not too cotton-candy. It was a tough choice! We tested all of the colors next to each other on the wall, so we could see the differences. It was amazing how similar colors can look to each other on a paint chip card, and how different they look on the wall next to each other. White Dogwood is the bottom left color.

The painter is coming on Tuesday and Wednesday to do the project, so I will certainly share the finished product with you. He is also giving the closet a fresh coat of crisp Extra White paint. Next up: finding the ideal Venetian mirror, and the perfect light fixture!

Nursery Paint Color: Melted Ice Cream?

Let the nursery decorating begin! We know we want to add decorative crown molding to the room. And we know we want to have the ceiling made smooth and painted, along with the room. I have decided on a color scheme of pale pink, white and silver. (I know..BIG surprise!) We have a contractor coming today to take a look at the room and give us an estimate. I found some thick, elaborate dental and egg molding today that Mr. AList and I both love. We also purchased a ceiling medallion that will look gorgeous atop a glimmering chandelier that we may be on the hunt for all summer. Now the big question is paint color! I am leaning toward Melted Ice Cream by Benjamin Moore, but I have a list of eight colors that I will be trying on our wall in the next few weeks. Below is a photo of a room painted in Melted Ice Cream.
